DELHI
New Delhi is the capital of India which has some historical and modern
places to visit. It is really difficult to write on all the places but shall
give few briefso n some important landmarks. . New Delhi was inaugurated as
India’s new capital in 1931
A Little History
The capital was designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir
Herbert Baker. The entire city’s style was created as a symbol of British
power, giving rise to the region’s melting pot of culture and architecture
Places to Visit in Delhi
1. India Gate
India Gate which symbolises the
sacrifice of 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives battling against the
foreign army during the World War I was Designed by Edwin Lutyens. It features the undying Amar Jawan Jyoti or the
Flame of the Immortal Soldier which was added later to honour Indian martyred
soldiers in the Indo-Pak War. Furthermore, this beautiful masterpiece is
counted amongst the largest war memorials in India.
2. Humayun's Tomb
4. Qutab Minar
This is a 73-metre tall minaret, named
after Qutb-ud-din Aibak.The tower has a spiral staircase with 379 steps. A
mosque named ‘Quwwat-ul-Islam Masjid’ at the foot of the tower, which is the
first mosque in India.
The tower contains 5 distinct tapering
storeys. The first 3 storeys of this masterpiece are laid with red sandstone,
while the fourth and fifth storeys are done in marble and sandstone
respectively. The QUARANIC texts which finds decorated are added attraction to
this landmark monument.
5. Red Fort
Constructed in 1639 by the Mughals, Red Fort gets its name from its massive
red-coloured sandstone walls.This octagonal-shaped fort is spread over an area
of 254 acres. The planning and designing of the fort is a fusion of Mughal,
Persian, Hindu, and Timurid traditions. A strong influence on later structures
built in and around Delhi, Red Fort also features a museum that holds
Mughal-era artefacts, including daggers, curtains, miniature paintings and
carpets. The significance of architectural creativity can be seen in the peacock throne, step well, imperial bath,
Moti Masjid and Hira Mahal.
6. Lotus Temple
Known for its unique architectural design, Lotus Temple is a House of
Worship, dedicated to harmony of humanity. Inspired by the lotus flower, the
temple boasts of 27 free-standing marble-clad petals, and is surrounded by
sprawling gardens and pond. With a height of over 34 metres, it can accommodate
around 2500 people altogether. The temple welcomes every religion symbolizing
the culture of all Houses of Worship.
7. Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar is one of the most popular places to visit in Delhi. This
UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the equinoctial sundial that can measure the
time of the day based on the sun’s movements. There are a total of 13 astronomy
architectural instruments here and you can spend a couple of hours enjoying
their precision.
8. Chandni Chowk
9. Jama Masjid
Situated in the core of Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the biggest and most
notable mosque in India. It was built
between 1650 and 1656 under the rule of Mughal sovereign Shah Jahan .
More than 5000 workers sweat and hard work is the outcome of this grandeur
constructed in redstone and marble which has three doors, four towers, two
40-meter high minarets and it can hold 25,000 peope in its patio for the
prayers
10. Rashtrapati Bhawan
The huge presidential palace is the largest home of any head of the state
and a true architectural marvel desined by Sir Edwin Lutynes and Herbert Baker.
When visiting Delhi this sprawling 330-acre estate which is the official
residence of president of India cannot be missed. The world famous Mughal
Gardens is a treat to any visitor as it has the largest collection of the best
flowering shurbs and bushes. The Museum is another must visit in the estate.

13. The National Rail Museum
Delhi’s National Rail Museum houses the largest collection of life-size
railway exhibits including locomotives, coaches and simulators collected from
different princely states of the country. This being the first of it’s kind in
India has the indoor galleries within this 11-acre museum also preserve
documents, drawings, books, maps and other items . If seen with paticence it
will take you to a journey of over 160 years of Indian Railway, the journey so
long like te travel from down south to norther tip. TheToy Train , 3D Virtual
Coach Ride, Joy Train and PSMT Ride are the major attractions at this museum.
14. Raj Ghat
dedicated to the Father of the Nation Raj Ghat is an important monument in
not only for Delhities but the whole of
India . It is located quite close to the river Yamuna and is the place where
the last rites for Mahatma Gandhi were performed. The spot has an eternal flame
burning and is open to the sky

The blog should really make reader's the motivation to travel to Delhi incase they are visiting for the first time and repeated travelers will always find something new.
