Haryana, state in north-central India. It is bounded on the northwest by the state of Punjab and the union territory of Chandigarh, on the north and northeast by the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, on the east by the state of Uttar Pradesh and the union territory of Delhi, and on the south and southwest by the state of Rajasthan. The city of Chandigarh, within the Chandigarh union territory, serves as the capital of not only that territory but also of the states of Haryana and Punjab

1. Gurgaon

Once labeled as dull and comparatively unknown suburb of the national capital region, Gurgaon of today is not only one of the most modern and urbanized cities of India, and skyline which can easily rival with  those of Hong Kong and Singapore. 2. Kurukshetra "The land of Mahabharata"

Known as the "Land of the Bhagavad Gita" this city in the state of Haryana, Kurukshetra, also known as Dharmakshetra is Situated 170 km north to Delhi. An epic battle between the Kauvaras and the Pandavas in the Hindu epic, Mahabharat made this place historical. The sacared book which also is used in the courts during trials to swear that the person is speaking truth and nothing but truth, “BHAGAVAD GITA" was recited by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in this place.

Kurukshetra was one of the most important centres for Vedic civilization as well as education. Lord Buddha and several Sikh Gurus are known to have visited and spent time here. The place has a large number of devout centres, holy shrines which trace back to the epic ages and the earliest Indian civilisation. Archaeological evidence claim that this city was in existence during the pre-Harrapan times. Kurukshetra was also called Thanesar or Sthaneswar, meaning 'place of God'. The Archaeological evidence lists that Ashoka, the Mauryan ruler made Kurukshetra a centre of learning for people from all over the world. The place is famous for its temples, lakes and museums documenting the history of pre-Harappan and Harappan civilisations. A fort buid by Arjuna’s son Abhimanyu a few kilometers from Kurukshetra in the village Amin adds to the evidence that this sacred place where the BAGAVAT GITA was indeed recited and leaves a strong impression on every visitor.

3. Panchkula "The city of 5 canals"

Panchkula , famous for trekking on the Morni hills as the name suggest the hills are filled with peacocks. The ruins of Chandles are still evident. 

We can really see that this is the most planned towns of Haryana, Panchkula which is a satellite town forms the tricity with Chandigarh and Mohali. It was Ruled by the Chandels from 9th-12th Century. This hill-city derives its name from the five irrigation canals or 'kuls' which draw water from the uphill Ghagghar. Panchkula is also a place tourists use as a halt before going to nearby hill stations in Himachal Pradesh.

4. Faridabad

Faridabad is Haryana's largest city and its major industrial hub as well. Faridabad is the main part of district Faridabad which has two divisions - Faridabad and Ballabgarh. The city shares borders with New Delhi on its north, Gurgaon to its west and Uttar Pradesh on its south west ends.

5. Panipat "The city of ancient wars"

Panipat was one of the five cities founded by the Pandava brothers during the Mahabharata. This city is located 90 kms from Delhi and is known for three historical battles. Makes Panipat worth a vist as it leaves an memorable impression with the fantastic reception of the people.Innumerable monuments, forts, temples and some outstanding historical places

Known as the ‘City of weavers’ and ‘Textile City’ is India’s hub for many textiles and has some ancient and unique style in their designs.

Located at a distance of 90 km from Delhi, Panipat is known for the three historical battles that were fought here. Innumerable monument, forts, temples and its magnificent historical connections make Panipat in Haryana an interesting tourist destination. Also known as 'City of Weavers', and 'Textile City', this is an important city for textile production.

Panipat was one of the five cities (prasthas) founded by Pandava brothers during the times of Mahabharata. The ruins of the Old Fort belonging to the Islamicate rule, the Kabuli Shah Mosque, Ibrahim Lodhi's grave and the tomb of Bu Ali Shah Kalandar is sure to bring out the archaeologist in you and leave you with enlightened with some overwhelming historical magnificence.

6. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is an amazing place, especially for nature lovers and birding enthusiasts. It is home to a number of migratory birds and is a great spot for spotting the various specie. The best time usually is winter and this Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is located at a distance of 40 kilometres from Dhaula-Kuan in Delhi on the Gurgaon-Farukh Nagar Road. More than 250 species, many unique and really astonishing birds in peak season .

Haryana Government has declared Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary as the National park. It is becoming a permanent residence for migratory birds. Birds from Central Asia, Europe, Siberia flock here covering incredible distances and flock here.

The towers erected at different points makes the bird watching more feasible.

Kalesar National Park is a beautiful place, located in the Yamuna Nagar district of the state of Haryana. Total area of the National park is about 46.82 Km2. In the year of 2003, the Kalesar Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as a National park. Kalesar National Park offers a host of activities such as Fishing, Trekking, Sight Seeing, Swimming, Bird Watching and Safari.

Kalesar National Park has got lot of significance in terms of bio-diversity it is store house of numerous medicinal plants and house of many threatened animals like Leopard, Ghoral, Barking deer, Sambar, Chital, Python, King Cobra, Monitor lizard etc.

National park is an area which is strictly reserved for the betterment of the wildlife & biodiversity, and where activities like developmental, forestry, poaching, hunting and grazing on cultivation are not permitted. Their boundaries are well marked and circumscribed.

9. Chandigarh "India's first planned city"

Chandigarh, a union territory that is the capital of both Punjab as well as Haryana.  India first planned city, which is located at a distance of 265 Kms from Delhi, Chandigarh has become a favourite weekend road trip. Many travelers who plan a long trip use Chandigarh, as a point of halt when they further head to Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Sukhna lake has become a great place for boating and Rock garden and Rose Garden also became very ideal and relaxing spots. The visit to Rock Garden will be a great learning experience as the concept is unique, for the same is made entirely designed out of industrial and urban waste. The rose garden in the same has become a popular tourist attraction.

Another famous place to visit in Chandigarh is the Capitol complex, which is also often referred to as Le Corbusier Centre. Earlier used as Le Corbusier's base, this UNESCO World Heritage Site has now been converted into a museum, and tourists are free to visit it. The Capitol is also home to the state's Vidhan Sabha, High Court, and Secretariat.
